Figure skaters of the national teams of Russia, Ukraine and the USA sat side by side at the team tournament of the 2022 Olympics in Beijing
Early in the morning on Friday, February 4, the figure skating team tournament started at the 2022 Olympics in Beijing. The figure skaters representing men’s single skating were the first to take to the ice. However, in the first form of the program, something happened that many fans expected. Teams from Russia, Ukraine and the United States sat side by side in a team tournament. Among those who support the Russian team is a pair of dancers Diana Davis-Gleb Smolkin. They were not entered into the short program in ice dancing, but made the Olympic team for the 2022 Games. A little later, another top Russian woman got into the support group of the Russian national team – Kamila Valieva sat on our podium.
Note that the Ukrainian team will definitely take the last, tenth place, according to the results of the first type of program. The thing is that the Ukrainian figure skater Ivan Shmuratko passed a positive test for coronavirus and he had to withdraw from the competition. Replacements for Ukrainians who received one quota in this form were not provided.
Recall that the competition team figure skating tournament will be held February 4, 6 and 7. According to the results of the free program among women, it is on Monday, the 7th, that the winners in this type of program will be determined. The Russian team, we note, in 2014 won gold medals at the Games in Sochi, and in 2018 our team was second.
