Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban flew to Moscow to meet with Vladimir Putin. The European politician has a reputation as an ally of Moscow. Officially, he came to us to agree on new gas supplies. But the EU has already said that a meeting with the president could interfere with the West’s unified anti-Russian position.
A personal meeting took place in the Kremlin at a huge 5-meter round table. What to do – security requirement. At such a distance, politicians have no chance of even accidentally infecting each other. At the same time, the advantages of personal communication remain.
– Gazprom has signed two long-term contracts with Hungary until 2036. This is, first of all, the result of your work. But it is important not only that there will be stable supplies, but also that today Hungary buys gas five times cheaper than the market,” Putin said.
In response, Orban noted that Russia has recently helped Hungary solve two problems: vaccine and energy. 900 thousand Hungarians are protected by our vaccination. And long-term contracts helped during the gas crisis.
The European politician at the meeting confirmed that he wants to agree on an increase in the supply of blue fuel.
– This is our 12th meeting. For 13 years, we have accumulated the most memories of the common past of Russia and the European Union, since most of the rest of the politicians have already changed during this time. And I don’t plan to leave – elections are in April. I have reasonable assumptions that we will cooperate for many years, – said Orban.
At the end of the introductory part, Putin promised to tell the Hungarian prime minister how the negotiations between Moscow and NATO were going. In response, the European politician said that he had arrived with a mission of peace, since no one wants war.
