Russian skier Natalya Nepryaeva spoke about the turning point in the skiathlon of the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, after which she managed to win the silver medal of the race. This was reported by the press service of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC).
“There was a moment at the end of the classical distance, when I caught a small gap. But I’m glad that I was able to quickly change my skis and win back this backlog. And I felt more confident at the skating distance. I realized that my health allows me to catch up. I tried to go tactically more. easier, and I tried to save energy until the last climb. I counted more on finishing acceleration, “ Nepryaeva said.
She added that it was difficult for her to hold on to the skiathlon champion, Norwegian Teresa Johaug.
“It’s hard to say if Yohaug could hold on. But if she ran away for 30 seconds, then she is clearly stronger,” concluded the skier of the Russian team.
Recall that Nepryaeva became the second in the skiathlon and brought the team of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) the first medal at the Winter Olympics in Beijing. The Russian woman was ahead of the Austrian skier Teresa Stadlober by 0.3 seconds. Norwegian Teresa Yohaug became the Olympic champion, she showed a time of 44:13.7, 30 seconds ahead of her nearest rivals.
As part of the skiathlon, skiers cover half the distance in a classic course, after which they change skis and the second half go in skating.
