Germany does not rule out the possibility of deploying an additional military contingent in Lithuania. The corresponding statement was made by the Minister of Defense of the country Christine Lambrecht.
According to her, Berlin is currently negotiating with Lithuania to find out exactly what Vilnius needs, Interfax reports.
The minister stressed that Germany is already making an important contribution to “ensuring the security of Lithuania” by leading the NATO battle group.
Earlier, Ukraine sent Germany a list indicating what exactly it wants to receive from military assistance. This document refers to the supply of warships and modern air defense systems.
At the same time, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock have repeatedly spoken about the inadmissibility of arms supplies to Ukraine.
Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany Andriy Melnyk said that arms supplies remain on the agenda in relations between Kiev and Berlin.
