Aparna Yadav Lucknow: In view of the UP Assembly elections, the BJP on Tuesday released its ninth list of candidates. The list includes the names of 17 candidates and the names of candidates for all the 9 seats of Lakhan have been announced. But with the release of this list, internal tensions for the BJP ticket have come to the margins.
Both Aparna Yadav, daughter-in-law of Samajwadi Party patron and former chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, and Manek Joshi, son of BJP MP Rita Bahugana Joshi, have not been given tickets. Aparna Yadav had joined the BJP in the hope of getting a ticket but she has been shocked by the party. Rita Bahugana had also expressed her desire for a ticket for her son. She had even said that she was ready to give up her seat in Parliament if her son was nominated for the Assembly.
Meanwhile, Minister Swati Singh has also been denied a ticket. In his place, Rajeshwar Singh, a former ED official, has been declared the candidate from Sarojini Nagar. Swati Singh’s husband has also not been given a ticket. He had wanted to become a BJP candidate in recent days.
Swati Singh is said to be angry with the party after not being given a ticket and may join the Samajwadi Party. According to media reports, the Samajwadi Party will compensate Aparna Yadav for joining the BJP by taking Swati Singh on its side. In fact, the Samajwadi Party has announced all its candidates for Lucknow but no candidate has been fielded for the Sarojini Nagar seat yet.
