Russia expects the US to impose new sanctions. This statement was made by the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the United States, Anatoly Antonov, on the YouTube channel Soloviev Live.
According to him, there is a consensus in the United States that new restrictions are needed against Russia. At the same time, as Antonov emphasized, it is not yet known what they will be.
Antonov noted that another 28 Russian diplomats would leave the United States by June 30. Commenting on the possibility of severing diplomatic relations, the ambassador said that this issue is within the competence of the president.
“And, frankly, I do not believe that the Americans are ready to bring down all relations. They believe, it seems to me, that we will not go to the end ,” he said.
At the same time, Antonov stressed that in order to establish ties, the missions will continue to work “until the last diplomat.”
The ambassador also said that Washington threatened to arrest diplomats from Russia, who were ordered to leave the United States before the end of January.
Earlier it was reported that Russia has become less vulnerable to Western sanctions due to the fact that in recent years it has been able to build a “strong financial fortress” to help overcome new restrictions.
